Transforming surgical logistics with providers and suppliers.

The one was difficult to whittle down into the short form Hank Balch maniacally requires. Ultimately, just like anyone else, reps are going to look out for their interests first. I hope it can generate a larger discussion of the role manufacturers and hospitals can and should play in driving the efficiencies they'd like to see. It's to everyone's benefit. #surgiohealth #innovationinhealthcare #meddevice #supplychainstrategy #beyondclean #hospitals #innovation #sterileprocessing #healthcare #healthtech #digitalhealth

There's no question that one of the biggest potential pain points for #SterileProcessing teams today is navigating the world of vendor management. How can your team find success in this area and build relationships that serve you, your patient, and your vendor partners? To help our growing audience better understand vendor management & technology, we are excited to present another release of our #VendorManagement Expert Series with subject matter expert, Jeff Wertz. Over the next few months, Jeff will continue to tackle some of the most pressing issues facing Sterile Processing departments related to vendor management and educate around many of the myths and misconceptions involved in this topic. He currently serves as VP of Product & Business Development at Surgio Health where he partners with health systems to design and deliver innovative modern technology and data to improve surgical logistics. This is a perfect time to gather your Sterile Processing, OR, Materials Management, and vendor team to share in learning about how successful #VendorManagement can ensure your loaner instruments get #BeyondClean. If you have any questions on this post or ideas for a future topic, Jeff can be contacted at: jwertz@surgio.com #WeFightDirty #ExpertSeries

I require whittling because the audience wants their social media to get right to the "point"! 😁 I thought this release struck at the heart of human nature, rep self interest (in a good way), and the competing interest(s) of the manufacturer. Less time on things that can be automated (logistics), so that there is more time to spend on things that can't be automated (relationships), seems like a pretty straightforward calculus for me. Most importantly from the #SterileProcessing perspective, our departments intuitively understand the rep is not looking out for the optimized nature of our inventory levels, storage capacities, or even staffing requirements. It's a bone of contention, but we can't blame someone (the rep) for doing the best they can with the limited options they have -- in the same way that missing, mislabeled, or delayed trays aren't solely because a technician didn't try. All kinds of process inputs may be (and often are) broken along the workflow that need addressing and improvement.
